Change to Landlord (UK property)

Change the business type from Sole Trader to Landlord (UK Property) during setup in AccountsPrep.

If you selected Sole Trader but your client earns income from UK property, change the business type before you finish setting up the business.

AccountsPrep then uses the Landlord (UK Property) chart of accounts and income tax categories. This keeps the client’s property records and Making Tax Digital (MTD) quarterly updates under the correct income source.

If your client earns both sole trader and UK property income, set up a separate AccountsPrep business for each income source.

  1. Go to the business setup journey.

  2. On the business type screen, select Landlord (UK Property).

  3. On Your Business, enter the client’s property business details.

  4. On Confirm Business, confirm the details.

  5. Turn on Income Tax/MTD if the client needs to use MTD for Income Tax.

  6. Finish the business setup.

AccountsPrep uses the Landlord (UK Property) chart of accounts and income tax categories for the business.

You can now record the client’s UK property income and expenses.
