Does AutoEntry handle Canadian Taxes?

The Canadian tax system can be complex and we get many questions on whether AutoEntry can handle them. AutoEntry doesn't actually do anything with the various GST/PST taxes as the various accounting packages will handle them already.

With an invoice where there are one or more taxes, AutoEntry simply extracts the total tax figure from the invoice/bill. You then select the appropriate tax code as normal.

Vat code drop down showing the rates available.

When you publish an invoice through to your accounts package, the system will split out the tax automatically to the correct rates.

📎NOTE: If you only have GST in your invoices, you won't be able to publish it from AutoEntry. AutoEntry isn’t able to publish VAT-only invoices; the total and net are always required fields to be able to publish. In those scenarios, you need to enter the invoice directly into your accounting software.

(That can apply to import duty tax for cross border purchases)
