You are trying to publish an invoice through to QuickBooks Online, but are receiving the below error message.

The account period has closed and the account books cannot be updated through the QBO Services API. Please use the QBO website to make these changes.

Applies To

  • QuickBooks Online integrated companies.

  • Invoice Dates & Lock Periods.


This error will show on your invoices if the account period you are attempting to publish to has been closed within QuickBooks.


To resolve this issue, please do the following:

  1. Unpublish the affected invoices.

  2. Follow these steps as outlined by QuickBooks to amend the account period lock dates.

  3. Republish the invoices.
