If you don't need an account in your Chart of Accounts, you can delete it but only if it has no entries in it.

📌TIP: Alternatively, if you want to use the ledger at a later stage, you can simply deactivate it to hide it from the drop-down lists.

Delete an account that was never used

⚠CAUTION: Deleting removes the account permanently. You won’t be able to retrieve the settings of the deleted accounts.

  1. Go to the Accounting tab, and click Chart of Accounts.

  2. Locate the account or bank account ledger: You can find it in the relevant category tab or in the All classes tab.

  3. Tick the account you want to delete. You can select several accounts at once.

  4. Click Delete.

Tick the box beside the account to select it and click the Delete button.

  5. You're shown a summary of the accounts you selected to delete.

  6. Click Delete to confirm the deletion.

📎NOTE: You can't delete an account with entries in it, even if the balance is zero.

If you see a green tick in the Balance column, this means there is at least one entry in the current period.

If you clear the balance to zero, you can't delete the account still, but you can deactivate it.
