Error: You cannot access this page

How to resolve this error accessing AutoEntry from Sage for Accountants.

Written by Marie-H

Symptom

When you log into SFA or when you access AutoEntry from Sage for Accountants (SFA), the following error can appear depending on your profile:

You cannot access this page

This could be for one of two reasons:

  • You must have Client Management access to use AutoEntry.

  • You do not have practice level access to AutoEntry.

Contact your administrator about your permissions.

Cause

Scenario one

Behaviour: You get the error when trying to log in to SFA.

Set up: You only have the AutoEntry Role and your permission level isn’t administrator.

Cause

  • Because you don't have Administrator level, you can’t access the practice AutoEntry account from Sage for Accountant

  • Because you don't have the Client Management role, you can't access the clients' list

Those two conditions, together with having no other roles, means you can't access Sage for Accountants at all.

Scenario two

Behaviour: You get the error when you're trying to access the practice AutoEntry account.

Set up: You have both roles AutoEntry and Client Management.

Cause: Because you don't have Administrator level, you can’t access the practice AutoEntry account from Sage for Accountant

📎NOTE: Only the AutoEntry administrator has access to the practice's account. The Standard Administrator doesn't.

📌TIP: The AutoEntry access from the top bar menu or from the Home section is exclusively for the practice. If you need to access the clients assigned to you, access AutoEntry from the client profile under Client Management.

Resolution

If you only need to access the Practice AutoEntry account, you need the AutoEntry Administrator level. You don't need the Client Management role.

If you need to access any client account, you need the following permissions:

  • AutoEntry role with any permission level

  • Client Management role with any permission level

  • Your user name assigned to the client

  • Make sure you access from Client Management and not the practice's access

📎NOTE: Having the AutoEntry Administrator or Standard Administrator role doesn't mean you access all the clients.

The "total client access" permission level under the Administrator roles means you have access to all the folders within the clients' account.

You define the access to clients exclusively from SFA> Manage users > Operations.
