You are seeing the below error message on your Desktop Sync App when attempting to connect a QuickBooks Desktop company file.

Connection to the company could not be established. A modal dialog box is showing in the QuickBooks user interface. Your application cannot access QuickBooks until the user dismisses the dialog box.

  • QuickBooks Desktop users.


This error can appear when you are trying to connect a company to QuickBooks Desktop via the AutoEntry Desktop Sync App while you are not logged into QuickBooks as an admin user.


To clear this error message, please do the following:

  1. Close QuickBooks Desktop

  2. Re-open QuickBooks as an administrator user

  3. Once open, please make sure no other user is signed into QuickBooks and no notification box is open

  4. Attempt to connect the company via the AutoEntry Sync App again using these steps.
