How to resolve this error when publishing an invoice to Xero.

You are receiving the following error when trying to publish an invoice to Xero.

The contact specified has possibly been merged (or archived). Xero does not indicate if the contact is merged, therefore AutoEntry cannot know for sure, please contact [email protected] if this contact is not merged. You can vote for Xero to add this feature here.

This error is returned by Xero when attempting to publish a bill or invoice associated with a contact that has been archived or merged. Since Xero doesn't explicitly flag merged contacts via its API, AutoEntry cannot automatically determine the contact's status.


Step 1 - Restore the Archived Contact in Xero

  1. In Xero, go to the Contacts menu and select All Contacts.

  2. Click the Archived tab.

  3. Locate and select the affected contact.

  4. Click Restore, then confirm the restoration.


Step 2 - Re-Sync in AutoEntry

Click the Re-Sync option within AutoEntry.

This will refresh the contact list and ensure the restored contact is available for future use.


​After completing these steps, you should be able to publish the document without further issues.
