If your AutoEntry account connects to Sage 50 or QuickBooks Desktop using the AutoEntry Sync App, restart it if the connection stops working.
EXAMPLE: If published invoices don't transfer to your accounting software, first check the Sync App status on the Integrate page. If the status shows Not running or Offline, restart the Sync App.
To restart the Sync App, complete the sections below in order:
Check the location of the Sync App.
Check whether it runs as a Service or Console.
Restart the Sync App.
Confirm the connection works.
📎NOTE: The Desktop Sync App and Sync App both refer to the AutoEntry Desktop Service application.
Check the location of the Sync App
If multiple people use the AutoEntry account, identify which computer runs the Sync App.
Even if you've installed the Sync App on your computer, AutoEntry can connect through a different device.
Check the Integrate page to identify the computer linked to the company.
Check how the Sync App runs
After you identify the correct computer, check whether the Sync App runs as a Service or a Console application.
📎NOTE: The application is always named AutoEntry.DesktopSync.Service, regardless of whether it runs as a Windows Service or as a Console application.
Restart the Sync App
Follow the instructions that match your Sync App configuration.
If the Sync App runs as a service
If your Sync App is running as a service, end the processes from the Task Manager, then reopen the application.
Close the Sync App processes
Go to Task Manager, then open the Processes tab.
If Task Manager opens in the simplified view, select More details.Select the following processes:
OCRex.Desktop.AutoEntry.Client
AutoEntry.Service
Select End task for both processes.
📎NOTE: If OCRex.Desktop.AutoEntry.Client doesn't appear, the Sync App isn't running. Continue to the next section.
Start the Sync App
You can restart the Sync App by opening the AutoEntry Sync App from Windows. Or:
Go to Task Manager, then open the Services tab.
Right-click AutoEntry.DesktopSync.Service.
Select Start.
📎 NOTE: If Start isn't available, the Sync App is running as a Console application. Follow the Console instructions instead.
If Restart appears instead of Start, one or more Sync App processes are still running. Return to the Processes tab and end all AutoEntry processes before trying again.
If the Sync App runs as a console
Go to the computer that runs the Sync App.
Open the AutoEntry Sync App.
Select Re-start Desktop Service.
A black console window appears briefly while the Sync App restarts. This confirms that the Sync App runs as a Console application. Keep the Sync App open while you use AutoEntry.
📌TIP: If the black window doesn't appear, the Sync App is running as a Service. Check the Sync App start-up type and change it to Console if required.
Check the connection
After restarting the Sync App, complete the following checks.
Check the company list
Open the Sync App and confirm that your companies appear.
Republish invoices
If invoice publishing failed before you restarted the Sync App:
Unpublish the affected invoices.
Publish them again.
Allow up to 10 minutes for the invoices to transfer.
Check the integration status
The Integrate page won't update immediately after you restart the Sync App.
The status updates after AutoEntry successfully publishes an invoice.
If the problem continues
If restarting the Sync App doesn't resolve the issue:
Check that you're running the latest version of the Sync App
Download and install the latest version if required
