When you publish an invoice to Sage 50 Canada, the following error can appear:
'An unknown error has occurred. To protect your company data, Sage 50 will now shut down. Any unsaved data will be lost. ID: E97'
This error occurs when you connect a company shared with Remote Data Access (RDA) using the wrong Sync App method.
Before you start
Check the following:
Is your Sage 50 company using RDA?
Is your Sync App updated to the latest version?
If the company file is on a server or shared network drive — is your Sync App running as a Console application?
If you use RDA
Don't pause Remote Data Access. Instead, reconnect the company using the correct method.
Open the Sync App.
Disconnect and reconnect using the RDA option.
Wait for the connection to complete.
Republish your invoices.
If you don't use RDA
CAUTION: Don't pause Remote Data Access unless we advise you to. Pausing RDA can interrupt access for other users.
If your Sage 50 file is hosted on a server
If your Sage 50 company file is stored on a server or shared network drive, the Sync App must run as a Console application, not a Service. Running in Service mode prevents the Sync App from accessing the company file and causes the E97 error.
Follow the steps to switch your Sync App to Console mode, then reconnect the company and republish the invoices.
If you recently updated Sage 50 Canada
Disconnect the company from the Sync App.
Close Sage 50 Canada.
Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager.
If Task Manager opens in the simplified view, select More details.Open the Processes tab.
Select OCRex.Desktop.AutoEntry.Client, then select End Task.
Select AutoEntry.Service, then select End Task.
Open the Sync App and check your company list appears.
Open Sage 50 Canada and reconnect the company.
NOTE: The error can still appear immediately after reconnecting. Wait up to five minutes, then refresh the Sync App before trying again.
